things i learned/realized/thought about today:

-my parents used to dress me up in pink high tops when i was a toddler
-because of this i'm not quite as upset about the unsightly haircut they kept me in
-vegetable soup is delicious
-i actually have the time to MAKE vegetable soup (and i did. and it was delicious. like i thought.)
-after summer school is over i'll have:
  • 21 hours left until i graduate from Art + Design (3 semesters because of studio though, bleh)
  • 45 hours left until i graduate from Textiles
  • a total of 66 hours
  • meaning i have to take 16+ hours per semester to graduate in five years
  • this.is.totally.doable.
-for once, i'm not upset by how much school i have left
-am i the only art to wear designer displaying in the fab*rik window? because i don't want to be; that's weird.
-i feel uncomfortable using semi-colons. we didn't spend as much time talking about them in grammar as we did things like exclamation points. but seriously, i think exclamation points are pretty self-explanatory.
-i've lost the nerve.
-watched eagle vs. shark. felt awkward the whole time.
-i should shut up and stick with tumblr.

LOOK! we're a rainbow!!!

rabbit food for thought

Tuesday, April 14, 2009

everyone is posting about easter, so i thought i'd jump on the bandwagon.

i went to the crabtree earlier this week to buy myself something. you know, just a little retail treat.

upon entering the mall i noticed a large set up composed of a gazebo-like structure with flowers and eggs with a throne underneath. who was sitting on said throne? why it twas the EASTER BUNNY! then i see a line of children waiting to sit on the easter bunny's lap.

okay. hold up.

since when is the easter bunny like santa claus? since when does the easter bunny get the whole shebang mall set up? since when do parents bring their children to sit on its lap?! what is the purpose of this? do the kids ask for things from the easter bunny? is that how this works?! are they all like "yo, bunny, i want a wii and throw in a new guitar for my guitar hero while you're at it..."?!

no. that is not how it works.

when i was a kid the easter bunny was this mysterious, mythical creature that popped out of its hole once a year for one night to bring little girls and boys eggs and chocolately yums. it did not set up shop in the public mall letting rugrats climb all over it, pull at its ears, and make demands.

i remember one year when i was really little, my mom put fake bunny prints all over our house. my sister and i had to follow them from room to room until they ended up at our easter baskets. these baskets did not have a wii or guitar hero, or even a fucking lite brite (to put things in a historical context).

we got fake grass, plastic eggs, chocolate candy wrapped in foil, and probably something jesus related.

but now i'm old and i received no such basket this year. maybe people like me should be the ones hitting up the mall bunny and NOT the kids...they probably woke up to an iphone or something equally as outrageous. fml.

memories

this time last year, i was getting whopped with a willow rod by a group of boys.

that sounds wrong.

i miss this place.

my computer hates me

Saturday, March 28, 2009

because i really have nothing better to note:
  • my computer has picked some kind of virus, trojan, nonsense which has rendered it, and myself totally frustrated with the state of things. no pop ups, i do not want to install your bogus antivirus crap. i really just want you to GO THE FUCK AWAY.
  • the front passenger side hub cap on my car is missing. i noticed this for the first time at 6:30am after a very long night in studio. at the time i thought i was hallucinating, but alas, i was not. i noticed a hubcap in the intersection of trinity and blue ridge on my way to class the next morning. was it possibly mine? i feel like i would have noticed a part of my car falling off.
  • it turns out that another car in my apartment lot is also missing the same hubcap. coincedence? now, whenever i'm driving, i notice how many cars are missing hubcaps, and ironically enough they are usually missing the FRONT PASSENGER one. is there some kind of hubcap theft conspiracy happening in raleigh? if so, i must admit that the thieves are clever because people rarely go to their passenger's side and wouldn't notice for a while.
  • i need to make decisions about hair/makeup for my art to wear line. i'm kind of illiterate in those arenas. i also don't really feel like scrambling to make a fifth garment, but i'd feel super lame if i only show four pieces. would it be possible to turn back the clock just a little? maybe i could buy one of those time machines like in napoleon dynamite, but this time it would work because i use stronger crystals and i'm not trying to go back as far as 1982.
  • and someone please explain what happened to jon and kate? jon bar hopping with coeds? c'mon he's married and has 8 kids. i don't think any amount of money will entice a college girl to mess with that. besides, they've probably seen kate's wrath and know they would die in a fight.
that's pretty much it.

happy things

these little beauties showed up at my apartment today.
they make me happy.
they make me smile.

ten musings

Monday, March 16, 2009

1. this week is already kicking my ass...it's monday.
2. i have written/received more emails in the past month than i ever thought humanly possible.
3. two exams, one garment, one lab report, advising, registration, ticket printing, t-shirt printing, and two dj shifts are the obstacles that currently stand in my way of glorious, uninterrupted sleep.
4. these things don't seem as overwhelming when placed in a nice, concise list; however i am not fooled.
5. when i do actually get to sleep, i need for my sub-conscious to stop bombarding me with ridiculously realistic dreams that range from being disturbing to comforting but in a weird 'this isn't the way it is/should be' kind of way.
6. i don't make sense.
7. i miss my dog.
8. something keeps clicking in my apartment.
9. i can't wait to move into an apartment closer to campus. small conveniences...
10. is it april 23rd yet?

i read the news today, oh boy

denial, denial

Sunday, March 8, 2009

spring break is over.

wait what? it just started!

nope. it's time to go back to school. and i don't want to.

we register for classes soon. i always have the hardest time getting classes to fit. the way i have it planned out right now, my earliest class on MWF is 1:30. that's not so bad. what surprised me more than anything was the fact that I couldn't find another class I needed that was offered MWF starting later than 8:30. do professors actually enjoy teaching that early?

i'm going to try swinging into a graphic design studio. i think it will be a nice change from fibers for once. it'll be weird going from such a hands on background to be thrown in front of a computer constantly. i think i'll manage.

it will be nice to have a new perspective on things.

if i take this studio it probably means i'll have to finally give in and buy a mac. jesus. i'll have to sell my soul to steve jobs in order to afford it. :)

what?

Wednesday, March 4, 2009

i'm 21 now.

and i don't really know what that's supposed to mean.

...if anything.

questions haven't been answered. problems haven't been solved.

the world continues spinning

and i guess that's all that matters.
