decisions

i've made a decision.

no art to wear this year. i feel slightly disappointed but also extremely relieved. this semester i just don't have the time to do it the way i want to. tis cool. always next year.

currently my computer is making sounds like a galaga arcade game. like when you fire the missile things.

i need to make some decisions.

i'm beginning to feel like i'm stretching myself too thin.

the past few weeks have been ridiculously stressful for me and it's because i've committed myself to so many different things. i'm really excited about what i'm getting involved with, but the time/stress factor is becoming difficult.

i may have to cut something out.

i think i might not to do Art to Wear after all. i'm so involved in the show already and there's always next year. i feel like i should spend this semester learning and perfecting my craft so that when i finally do show, i'll be really happy with it. i had wanted to get started on it over christmas break, but i had so much other work to do. next year i'll plan ahead.

gah. i don't know what i'm doing, but i need to decide quickly.

insomnia

for some reason i have had a terrible time trying to sleep the past two weeks.

and to make things worse, i've begun waking up suddenly at 8:00 am everyday this week.

i am tired.

and have a lot of work to do this weekend.

i won't be leaving my house.

i'm going to set up a small scale sweatshop in my kitchen to finish my first garment.

I WILL FINISH THIS WEEKEND!!!

i have to; i only have two weeks left.

a letter to the weather

dear snow,

it has been such a dreadfully long time since we last met. i've heard rumors that you will be in town tomorrow and i would love to see you again! if you come to visit i will most certainly be obliged to skip my classes in order to enjoy your company.

i just can't seem to get enough.

things i need to happen:

• a miracle to occur where i have more than just three weeks before jurying
• tiny elves to hand dye and screen print all the silk scarves sitting in the box under my desk (there are a lot)
  
• my printer to please print the lecture notes for my class tomorrow (i've been waiting thirty minutes. i don't think this is happening.)
  
• a giant piece of what looks, tastes, and smells like fried chicken, BUT ISN'T (because i'm over meat) to appear on a plate in front of me so i can devour it
  
• someone to bitch-slap Tamra from the Real Housewives of Orange County
• someone to make me stop watching that terrible, yet extremely addictive show
  
• the growth of a real life, full blown money tree in front of my apartment (nothing but benjamins of course)

KATLYN GRIFFIN HAS FINALLY, REALLY AND IRREVOCABLY DECIDED ON HER ART to WEAR LINE.

that's right. after all the false alarms this is the real deal.

HOW CAN THIS BE? you ask. because this time it isn't a stupid, cliche, uninteresting (to me anyway), or super THEMEY theme. plus, i have less than a month to make two killer garments with nothing started so it's time to be decisive because that is what 2009 is all about!!! RIGHT?!

i have ideas! I HAVE ACTUAL SKETCHES DRAWN! are you hearing this shit?! i'm just as amazed as you.

apologies for the excessive capitalization, but how else can i reflect the rise in volume as would occur had you actually heard me saying all this?

back in business

first day of class. not terribly painful, but i wasn't really awake until about 12:30. today i only had two classes.

first: Fiber Science, in which i get to learn about fibers. again. hooray.

second: Macroeconomics, where my teacher acts as though she really intends to teach us something and not just give us a quiz everyday and never talk about anything except Bozeman, MT and how she used to work for the government and how economics is oh so important but never actually TEACHING us anything about it. ahem, dick stroup.

i'm a little excited to finally learn something about macroeconomics and how it all works. maybe now when people are all "THE ECONOMY IS IN THE SHITHOLE! HOW DID THIS HAPPEN? WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO!" i'll have something coherent to say about it.

i'm finally finished with my scholarship stuffs!
goodbye case study, HELLO 5 GRAND!!!

now i can focus my time on freaking out about other things including but not limited to:

• starting school wednesday
• figuring out how "arranged" classes actually work
• Art to Wear shiz: my line, jurying, graphics coordinating, merchandise sourcing/production, fundraising, etc.
• dj training for wknc
• treasuring for design council
• learning to accept jan ru as my studio professor...again
• applying for killer internships for summer times: i have a few options that sound promising
• attempting to keep myself collected enough to rock on and power through

i feel like this semester will be challenging but that i'll get a lot out of it...chayeah!
